1. Overview & Commitment
LexiLayer Pro ("the Extension" and "LexiLayer Studio") is developed by INyouCARA Productions to help people learn foreign languages naturally during daily browsing and interactive study. We believe your learning journey, private browsing habits, and personal information belong solely to you. LexiLayer operates with a strict zero-telemetry, local-first privacy policy.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, transmit, store, or sell any of the following:
- No Personal Identifiers: No names, email addresses, phone numbers, or IP addresses are tracked by our extension.
- No Browsing History: We do not log or track websites visited, URLs viewed, or page contents.
- No External Telemetry or Analytics: The product contains zero third-party tracking scripts, trackers, or marketing analytics SDKs.
- No Account Required: You can use LexiLayer without creating an account or providing credentials.
3. How Your Data Is Stored (On-Device Storage)
All learning data is stored strictly in your browser's private local storage (chrome.storage.sync for the extension, and standard localStorage for the Studio web app):
- Target language preferences and display mode
- Vocabulary replacement intensity and review settings
- Encountered words, user-added custom words, and starred terms
- Gamification progress (XP, streaks, and levels)
If you have browser sync enabled (e.g. through your personal Google or Microsoft profile), your browser synchronizes your extension settings across your devices using Google or Microsoft's native encrypted synchronization. We have no access to this data.
4. Sensitive Websites & Safety Hard-Lockouts
LexiLayer includes hardcoded safeguards that automatically disable word replacements and content scripts on:
- Banking, cryptocurrency, and payment portals (e.g., PayPal, Stripe, Chase, Bank of America, Coinbase)
- Government and tax filing portals (e.g., IRS, Social Security)
- Login, authentication, and password input forms
- Major search engines (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo, Brave Search)
5. Native Speech Synthesis (Audio)
Audio pronunciations are generated using your browser's built-in offline Web Speech API (SpeechSynthesis). Pronunciations are synthesized entirely on your local machine and never transmitted to external speech servers.
6. Data Ownership & Export
You have full ownership of your data at all times. You can export your entire study history to a JSON file (lexilayer-pro-progress.json) or clear all data permanently with a single click in the Options dashboard.
